Valio Eesti AS was founded in 1993 and handles production, sales and marketing in Estonia. There are two production plants in Estonia; Vöru Juust producing cheese and Laeva dairy producing fresh dairy products.
In addition to Finnish Valio products, the subsidiary's inventory includes Alma and Gefilus products from the local Laeva dairy. Alma milks, creams, kefir, yoghurts, quarks, cottage cheese and sour cream have established a strong position in Estonia, where Alma is in fact market leader in most of the these product groups.
Valio Eesti holds around a 30% share of the country's fresh dairy products market with locally pro-duced Alma and Gefilus dairy products.
A key factor behind growth in Estonia is the high quality of locally produced products and a certain quality consciousness spreading throughout the consumer market. The Laeva dairy runs a certified ISO 9001 quality system. The focus of operational development is to raise market penetration and broaden the product range, as well as develop co-operation with customers.
Võru Juust is the leading Estonian cheese producer. The company has a net turnover of around EUR 12 million and the cheese plant employs 136 people.
The company's principal markets are Estonia, the EU as a whole and Russia. The block cheese At-leet is Võru Juust's best-known brand in Estonia and Russia. The company also makes Italian method Parmesan type hard cheese.
