Personnel principles: personal responsibility, openness, fairness and equality

The realisation of these principles is tracked in the personnel co-operation group, which draws representatives from all categories of profession at Valio, and in shop stewards’ meetings.
Salary equality between genders and personnel groups is realised at Valio to a greater extent than the average. Women earn on average 96 cents per euro earned by men.

The programme’s goal is to promote personnel well-being and consequently job satisfaction, motivation, and the ability to reinvigorate oneself in a changing environment.
The objectives for 2010 were open interaction in the working community, supporting working capacity, and caring for people, through a programme of early intervention, as well as promoting individuals’ health and well-being by encouraging and supporting staff in taking more exercise, in weight management, and in giving up smoking.

Valio has operated a directional reward system for the whole personnel since 2002. A bonus is paid on the basis of Valio’s financial performance and divisional goals.

Valio also supports personnel leisure clubs and rewards its staff for their length of service.

More than 4,000 people apply for Valio’s summer jobs every year.
