In-house control approved by the authorities

Valio production plants and warehouses have an in-house control system approved by the authorities and drawn up in accordance with HACCP principles.

The system covers the entire production process from the reception of raw materials and packing materials, to the supervision of finished products, facilities and process equipment, and product transportation.
Feedback is part of control
Product quality is tracked throughout the product’s life on the market via consumer and customer feedback.

All contacts are recorded. Feedback enables us to act swiftly if required, and any faults are communicated openly.
Certified systems
Valio’s in-house control is certified by external auditors.

Valio production is steered by an ISO 9001 certified quality system.

The food safety system is maintained and developed in accordance with the ISO 22000 standard. The goal is to introduce support systems in accordance with the ISO 22002-1 standard at all Valio sites by the end of 2011.

Four production plants in Finland and one in Belgium hold a BRC certificate from the British Retail Consortium.

The BRC certificate will be replaced in early 2011 with a certificate in accordance with ISO 22000 and ISO 22002-1 at five Finnish Valio sites.

The key laboratory procedures are ISO 17025 accredited.

Residue control shows that Valio products are free from chemical residues. The levels of chemical, toxin and radioactive residues in raw materials and products are monitored to ensure safety.

Residue control is conducted both by EU and national authorities, and Valio carries out its own testing, too.
