66 new products launched in 2010

In 2010, Valio launched 66 new products in Finland generating net sales of 22 million euros. Products launched within the last five years accounted for 23.6% of domestic net sales in December.

The most significant product launch of 2010 was Valio Maito Plus™ which contains twice the amount of vitamin D and one-and-a-half times the amount of protein compared with ordinary fat free milk. It's ideal for the whole family and especially for the elderly, exercisers and for weight management. The new milk is produced at Valio’s Jyväskylä dairy.

In the cooking products category, easy-to-use, lighter, flavoured cooking creams scored a success. Valio flavoured cooking cream 10%, three onions, was one of the best performing cooking products in 2010. The new cooking cream is manufactured at Valio’s Turenki plant.

There are now more than 20 Valio Gefilus® product items. The most popular are juices and fermented milks, which account for more than half of the product family’s sales. In January 2010, Valio launched Valio Gefilus® Kidius® yoghurt multipacks for children, and in September, Valio Viilis® Gefilus® flavoured viili fermented milk.

Valio’s black label cheeses’ product family was extended with Valio Alppi Kreivi® indulgence cheese which is matured for 6 months. The new triangle-shaped cheese is made at Valio’s Joensuu cheese plant.

The Valio Laktoositon™ logo and packages were gradually redesigned in all product groups. The Valio Laktoositon™ yoghurt selection was extended with two new flavours, banana and cloudberry-apple. The brand new lactose free products were lactose free viili fermented milks and Valio Turkish yoghurt which is the only lactose free cooking yoghurt in the shops in Finland.

The most successful products launched in 2010 were Valio Maito Plus™ milk which contains twice the amount of vitamin D and one-and-a-half times the amount of protein compared with ordinary fat free milk, Valio flavoured cooking cream 10%, three onions, Valio layered yoghurts, and Valio Alppi Kreivi® indulgence cheese.


Two glasses (5 dl) of Valio Maito Plus™ milk satisfies the recommended adult daily requirement for vitamin D and calcium, and around a third of that for protein.
