We know where our milk comes from
|
The ingredients of Valio products are highly traceable. If a product is faulty, the raw milk can be traced back to the farm at which it was collected.
Raw milk is collected from farms every other day and milk collection routes are planned for efficiency and to be environmentally sound.
In 2011, collection lorries drove an average of 20.2 hours per day on each day of the year.
Collection is handled by Valio subcontractors who operate a total of 101 lorries that travelled a total of 24.3 million kilometres in 2011 (2010: 24.6 million kilometres).

 Locally produced and traceable
Valio products are Finnish local foods of whose origin you can be certain. In the Finnish market, the Valio logo indicates that the product has been manufactured from Finnish milk in Finland.
Valio has 15 production plants in Finland to which milk is delivered from an average distance of 64 kilometres.
Efficient two-tier distribution lorries travelling on optimised routes maintain a minimal environmental load.
