Zero Lactose™ milk drink comes to the Baltic states

| Valio Estonia first delivered the fresh taste of milk with no lactose to local retailers in October 2007 with Valio Zero LactoseTM milk drink, soon followed by yoghurts and butter in 2008. At the moment, Valio Estonia is selling only Valio Zero Lactose™ milk throughout the Baltics and volumes are growing.

Market signals are strong and consumer uptake enthusiastic. Valio Group’s international experience gathered in a decade of marketing lactose free products makes it easier to identify and communicate with each target group.
A quarter of all Estonians are reckoned to suffer from lactose intolerance and the unpleasant symptoms that go with it. A recent survey commissioned by Valio Eesti showed that during the last two years awareness of lactose intolerance has increased significantly. Given that every fourth Estonian has a genetic predisposition to lactose intolerance, awareness is still poor.
