Yoghurt is actually quite a new product in Finland - the first yoghurt was produced at Valio's Riihimäki plant and introduced to Finnish consumers in 1968. Back then yoghurt was a really new idea, but still it was a great success, success that continues to this day.

| Valio yoghurts are made of pasteurised and homogenised milk using special yoghurt starters. The dry matter content of yoghurt is increased by evaporation to create a thick texture and consistency. Flavoured yoghurts are made by adding berry or fruit mixes made of sugar, berries and fruit to soured, unflavoured yoghurt; additives include e.g. thickeners and aromas.
