Valio's personnel principles are personal responsibility, openness, fairness and equality. The realisation of these principles is monitored by the personnel co-operation group comprising representatives from all the different professional contingents at Valio, and in the company's shop steward days.
Salary equality between genders and personnel groups is realised at Valio to a greater extent than the average. Valio applies salary tables in accordance with collective agreements for the same jobs, and the Hay salary system for higher clerical employees which is based on an evaluation of duties and competence.
Women earn on average 95 cents per euro earned by men. There are more men working in management, supervisory, expert, and maintenance tasks. The number of women is higher for example in laboratory work.
